Spring House (soul) Cleaning
This time of year our thoughts start to travel to the warmer, more colorful season of Spring. After our dreary January, the warm sunny days are even more attractive. While we are waiting ofr Spring to arrive, the Chuch offers us the Season of Lent, our liturgical Springtime, to bring hopw and excitement to our lives which may feel a bit dreary right no.
Lent offers us the time to prepare for Easter - the most important feast of the year - our celebration of redemption. Lent consists of 40 days when we are encouraged to "repent and believe in the good news". These are the words we hear as the blessed ashes are placed on our forehead on Ash Wednesday. The Gospel for the first day of Lent offers some suggestions for how we can spend these days of preparation.
